So I went to my first warped tour yesterday. I have to say that it was pretty amazing. I’m still torn as to whether I like the tour atmosphere or the small show atmosphere more. I’m leaning twards small shows, but anyway, I thought I would just give a rundown of all the bands that I actually watched and paid attention to.
Pennywise
Definitely one of the two best, if not the best show all day. They were one of the only true punk bands that was still there and they showed it in a big way. Every song they played sounded amazing. I especially liked Fuck Authority and Bro Hymn. If you don’t know the story behind Bro Hymn you should look it up as it’s really touching, and seeing them play it was the best experience of my day.
Forever the Sickest Kids
I’ve mentioned these guys on here before. I have to say that I really didn’t like them live. There music is good to chill to, but seeing them play in a standing arena type of show was just lackluster. They sounded exactly like the cd, and they might as well have just been singing along to it. They didn’t do bad, but they just weren’t unique and didn’t have enough energy.
All Time Low
This is a band that I fell in love with the second I heard the first song, and have never since been disappointed by. They played almost all the songs that I wanted to hear including the first song I ever heard by them, Jasey Rae. The best songs were that and Coffee Shop Soundtrack.
Motion City Soundtrack
I originally wasn’t going to see this band because they were up against Say Anything. But due to some time shifts they played just before them. I had heard that they sucked live, and I have to admit that they didn’t play perfectly, but it wasn’t so bad that it took me out of the experience. Thankfuly they mostly played songs from their second cd, and the best songs from their first and third. Not half bad overall.
Say Anything
This was one of the bands that I was sure I wanted to see, but I didn’t think that I would be as impressed with them as I was. They played a great show, and included most of the songs that I wanted to hear. It has renewed my interest in them and I have started to get their back catalog.
All That Remains
This was the other great show of the day. These guys were definitely the craziest band there. They had the most energy, they played almost better than they did on the cd. They played absolutely all the songs that I wanted to hear. As far as I know, they were the only band that called for blood in their mosh pit.
So overall it was a good experience and I can’t wait for next year.
